Help  Yampatika and the US Forest Service by reviewing trail camera footage  as part of a decades-long effort to monitor the Pacific Marten.  Throughout the event, you will gain trail cam ID skills, learn about the  Pacific Marten, and get connected to other trail camera  community-science efforts so you can contribute to conservation right  from your home.

Annual Cowboy Downhill

    • It all began over 50 years ago when Billy Kidd, Steamboat’s director of  skiing, and Larry Mahan, six-time all-around World Champion cowboy,  decided to invite a few of the ProRodeo stars to Steamboat for a day of  skiing. The cowboys had such a great time that the downhill has become  the most popular event of the season with over 100 of the best  professional rodeo cowboys competing in the most unique ski rodeo in the  country.

The Cowboy Downhill is always scheduled to coincide with the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

Snowshoe Through History Happy Hour

Yampatika's Environmental Learning Center at the Hutchinson/Legacy Ranch- 35435 HWY 40, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487
Join  Yampatika and the Tread of Pioneers Museum as we explore  Hutchinson/Legacy Ranch on snowshoes and inside the warm and cozy  historic Ranch House. Snowshoes are included on-site or bring your own.

The  45-minute snowshoe tour focuses on the geology of the Yampa Valley.  We'll then head inside to warm up with warm tea or our hot, happy hour  drinks where a special guest speaker will present.

Legacy Ranch has limited parking, so carpool if you can, and be sure to park close together onsite!

Time: arrive by 3:45 PM to get checked in.

Due to the presence of alcohol 21 + only, please.

Distance/trail: we will cover less than a mile of a flat meadow

Cost: Free, but registration is requested and $10 refundable deposit at yampatika.org.

The  sixth annual Meeker skijoring event will be held at the County  Fairgrounds. Come join the fun as Meeker hosts riders and racers from  mountain towns across the West and produces a race putting safety,  fairness and integrity first.

Teams of a horse, rider, and skier, race through a snow course.

Saturday and Sunday: Races begin at 10am at RBC Fairgrounds

Meeker is proud to support an ongoing  effort to celebrate the common interest of skijoring’s responsible  growth as a winter sport.
